HINGE BIN
The assignment for this project was to define and address a user challenge in any consumer product area that is in line with the requirements of the International Housewares Association Student Design Competition.
The most common annoyances brought upon by trashcans are often ignored or endured as if they are unavoidable when owning a trashcan.
By developing a trashcan that opens on one side, a full bag of trash can be removed more simply, eliminating many of the frustrations with taking out the garbage.

Ideation.
Full scale model carved from blue foam board, surfaced with thin styrene sheet and PVC piping for hinge detail.
Lid and outer lid are both connected to the inset hinge, allowing the can to sit flush up against a wall.
Pen like mechanism releases door latch and black trim serves as a bumper for the opening door.
Internal plastic clips secure and conceal the bag excess within the trashcan.
Front face opens for easy removal of the trash bag.
