LUNAR LIGHT
The assignment of this project was to develop a lighting device that addresses a situation in which light is required and to incorporate a new lighting technology.
Desk lights have distinct features that are specific to their function yet are seldom combined to create a universal light for all situations. My light will unify the attributes of a directional task light and ambient room lamp, creating a universal light that can be customized to its environment.
Initial concepts.
Cardstock and foam core size and proportion exploration
Slide the inner arc (light source) to the desirable position for sufficient lighting.
Pink foam form studies.

Adjustable.
Cold cathode fluorescent lights retain the efficiency of LED bulbs while incorporating the value of adjustability. This bulb technology enables the dimming and customization of the light's color temperature, from a warm incandescent yellow to a task fluorescent blue.

Brightness.
Running your finger along the slope of the base changes the intensity of the light.
Running your finger along the front contour of the base alters the color of the light.
This universal light can switch from an ambient table lamp to an overhead task light in one simple slide. The easy transformation and simple design aesthetic allows the Lunar Light to exist in a professional business atmosphere, by your couch at home, and everywhere in between.
