QUILL LIGHT
This was a student-run senior show to celebrate the end of our Industrial Design education at RIT.
The Quill Light will be reminiscent of a bundle of quills from a porcupine with similar inspiration from the 2010 World Expo's "Seed Cathedral" pavilion by Zaha Hadid.
I chose to design and build a functional chandelier using the porcupine inspiration and the application of fiber optics to create a powerful visual impact.
LED Christmas light strands hot glued into the drilled holes of a PVC tube which was then covered in a reflective film to hide the housing when hung.
Our pieces at the show.
This concept can be applied to various types of lighting devices leaving a lasting impact in any orientation.
